Hiya — I’m Allie Felix, a community builder who supports early stage startups at Embarc Collective in Tampa Bay, Florida. My passion and secret power is to connect people to resources and opportunities, so I’m excited to meet you during this week's AMA! A little more on me:
During college, I determined that I wasn’t reaching my fullest potential and made the crazy decision to transfer schools to Smith College. That decision led me to meeting and working for Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper. Isn’t it crazy to reflect on how the decisions we make greatly impact our lives?
After spending time in the Valley, I made the trek to New York to lead community at Work-Bench, an enterprise technology venture fund and side hustle at 37 Angels, a women's angel investing network. Fast forward to today:
Two years ago I boomeranged back home to help build Embarc Collective, an educational nonprofit that exists to help Tampa Bay’s startup talent build bold, scalable and thriving companies. As the Platform Director, I’ve helped build a new type of bespoke startup support model for our 50+ early stage technology startups.
Use this time to ask me anything, like:
- Why I’m bullish on growing startup communities outside of the coasts
- Pros and cons of moving from SF/NYC to a smaller market
- Tactical tips on building a network—no matter where you are located
- How to build relationships with investors before you need their $$
- My hot take on why Tom Brady will get the Bucs to Super Bowl LV
Let’s get started!
