Our flowers pull people out of poverty
On the roads to our partner flower farms from Quito, Ecuador, you see it -- mud houses with thatched roofs transforming into brick homes with windows, indoor heating, and plumbing. The road tells the story of the enriching of the Andean people due to the arrival of flower farming 25 years ago. Flowers have pulled about a quarter of the population out of poverty as they moved away from subsistence dairy farming and into large scale floral production. A new middle class has arisen with dual income households and a new hope for Andean children.
Our partner farms provide many services for their employees, including daycare, meals, and even drop-off/pick-up laundry service. For the first time, many Andean children are going to college -- some in the United States to study botany and horticulture so that they can return to Ecuador to start their own farms. We have hand-picked our partner farms and know first-hand the goodness that our flowers are bringing to people's lives -- not just to the recipients but to the people behind the stems. So THANK YOU for your investment in It's By U...it's doing more good than you may realize!
