Celebrating 4 Years of Moonlighting
Monday, we celebrated the four-year anniversary of Moonlighting’s official launch...and what an incredible journey we have been on since that day!
We started Moonlighting to help empower people everywhere to pursue the career they always wanted, to lead a better life, and to do work that they truly love. Seeing freelancers in the gig economy struggle to earn decent wages, we were propelled to create a free and open marketplace that gives control back to the worker so that they can build their own workplace independence.
This mission has turned into a movement, spreading quickly throughout the country, recently across our northern borders into Canada, and soon across the globe.
As the Moonlighting community approaches 700k users, we are humbled by the support and interest we have received:
We have established partnerships with news media companies Gannett, Tribune, and McClatchy to not just fund the business with $6M+ but to also help promote our users to more than 1,500 markets across the U.S.
Our iOS app has been featured as a top 10 mobile app in the App Store “Jobs” category for over two years and the company has recently made headlines in Thrive Global, MinnoTank, KingsCrowd, Forbes, and will soon appear on the reality TV series Meet the Drapers.
But most importantly, over these last 4 years we have learned from our users that there is still work to be done to make hiring online easier, safer, more trusted, and more inclusive. As a result, we are now more confident than ever that our blockchain integration and international expansion plans are truly going to revolutionize the way we work and hire in the freelance economy.
Thank you to the investors who have participated so far; thank you for following our journey, for believing in us and our vision of a more trusted, global, and inclusive gig economy.
With appreciation,
Jeff
