San Francisco's Pier 39 Inks MOU With Owlized
The most popular tourist destination on the West Coast is about to become ground zero for public virtual reality, thanks to a groundbreaking agreement between Pier 39 and San Francisco-based Owlized, Inc.
Pier 39, the iconic San Francisco attraction boasting more than eight million annual visitors, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Owlized, enabling the virtual reality startup to install the world's first public VR kiosk, OWL VR, at the pier in order to test the technology in advance of a potential expansion to more locations on the San Francisco waterfront.
"There couldn't be a better place in the world to roll out OWL VR than Pier 39," said Owlized CEO Aaron Selverston. "Not only is the pier the number one attraction on the West Coast, but it's also right in our back yard, which sets us up for success by enabling us to closely monitor user behavior and usage patterns while providing a white glove level of support."
Beyond being a globally-recognized attraction by travelers, Pier 39 is also a leader in the attractions industry. Companies who have attained success can gain tremendous credibility and traction among other attraction operators.
Once a proven success, Owlized plans to aggressively promote the attraction at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) annual trade show, where the world's top attraction operators flock to discover the latest breakthroughs in tourism, and where Pier 39 is a household name.
The announcement marks the first of a series of high-profile agreements Owlized plans to announce in 2018.
