A note from WYL's CEO (me)
WYL Community,
I want to say thank you and that I appreciate all of the Love many of you sent me and my family, this past week.
Over the last five years, WYL has made an impact in the lives of so many. We've created a platform that's truly provided transparency and useful content and commentary to help renters and landlords in their day to day Lives. We can proudly say that we've Grown to nearly 2M users who've gone on to review more than 22,000 landlords nationwide and that our story has reached, inspired, and helped so many more.
The world we introduced WYL into several years ago has changed drastically. We started out as an app that focused on Temple University and have now expanded to helping renters, landlords, lenders, local governments, universities, and corporations, all over the country.
Admittedly, while all of this should call for celebration, we're experiencing it amid one of the scariest moments any of us have ever lived through. COVID-19 has devastated communities and economies alike. I can personally attest to the internal grief my family and I have had to endure this past week with the loss of my aunt due to complications with COVID-19. Although we've had to grieve separately, thanks to technology, we were able to still grieve Together.
I'm writing you today to express that we at WYL realize what our calling is during this time and to let you know that we've been working tirelessly to make sure that impact is felt. We've seen our social reach increase by 10,000% over the last month and our social engagement increase by 1200% over that same time. We're clearly being tagged into the ring and we're ready for it.
I'm proud to announce on Wednesday, May 13th, we are launching the WYL app that will serve both renters and home providers.
Coupled with the download of our app, NYC and Philly residents will also receive a free digital copy of our Renter Commandments Handbook. We're committed to helping our Community; which means, everyone who downloads the app will receive access to our COVID-19 Resource Center for Housing. We're doing this for you. While it's imperative we practice social distancing, it's important we remember we're all in this Together. Let's Build.
With Love,
Ofo
