Problem
Jerky is great, but its environmental footprint isn't
People love jerky. Convenient, savory, and satisfying - we're big fans ourselves. However, its production takes a toll on the planet and the plant-based snacks on the market lack the texture and flavor jerky fanatics crave.
Solution
Moku: Plant-based jerky with meat-like taste
It looks like bacon, tastes like jerky, and is made from 'shrooms. Moku is a jerky that is both insanely delicious and 100% plant-based. Partnering with an acclaimed plant-based chef, we crafted a jerky that is not only healthy and sustainable, but also captures the meat-like texture that we crave.
Product
Raising the bar for plant-based jerky
Available in Hawaiian Teriyaki, Original, and Sweet & Spicy, Moku revitalizes traditional jerky flavors with star ingredients like king trumpet mushrooms, chickpea miso, and coconut aminos. This is snacking with impact – by opting for a bag of Moku over beef jerky, you are saving 12 sq. feet of land, 11 lbs CO2 equivalent, and 107 gallons of water. Free of GMO's, soy, and gluten, we currently offer flavor-specific 3-packs and a variety 3-pack. At 170 calories per bag, this plant-based jerky is the new go-to adventure snack.
Traction
Set up for success
Moku has developed a clear, multi-channel go-to-market strategy that leverages a flexible supply chain to support rapid growth. We’ve established manufacturing, testing, packing and e-commerce centers and will launch across three direct-to-consumer channels in Amazon, mokufoods.com, and Thrive Market before hitting retail shelves in early 2021.
We also plan to launch a plant-based bacon in 2022 which we've already received amazing feedback on.

Market
We're tackling a $30B addressable market
The future of snacking is plant-based. The rising awareness of meat’s environmental impact paired with shifting consumption habits is driving more individuals to plant-based food products. Jerky is just the beginning.
Plant-based foods have grown 20% year-over-year and with 39% of all Americans looking to add plant-based foods into their regular diet, this is expected to grow exponentially. Moku intersects three major categories, totaling $30B.
Competition
In a class of its own
Moku is the only great-tasting, nutrient-dense, and affordable savory snack available that is suitable for omnivores, vegans, paleo eaters, as well as those with allergies.
Vision and strategy
The future of snacking
We believe it’s the small choices of today that shape tomorrow. The food you eat is just one way to improve your life and the planet. Moku is for those striving to be better but overwhelmed by the to-do list to get there.
We're not here just to make jerky. We're here to encourage everyone to take mindful steps towards a healthier future – from our snack choices to our day-to-day routines. Let’s take it one day at a time. One choice at a time. One Moku at a time.
Funding
We are seeking growth capital to help us further scale our business. Our current investors are experienced founders and industry experts, offering Moku strategic guidance. Moku has also been featured on Entrepreneur's Elevator Pitch in 2019, of which all four judges committed investment on the spot.
