New partnerships and new opportunities
Last week, our founding partner PRX announced that they are merging with PRI, an award-winning journalism and storytelling organization, to better support the creation, distribution, and development of future public media. WGBH - the parent company of PRI and a RadioPublic investor - will also invest $10m in the new combined group to expand podcasting, training, and more.
This is both big news in podcasting and public media, and a great opportunity for RadioPublic to help our partners reach and engage more listeners. While the economics of this merger doesn't directly impact RadioPublic, we're excited to expand the depth of our partnership with this new organization.
We are also delighted to announce RadioPublic’s Calls To Action, which shortens the distance between podcasters asking for and receiving support from their audiences. We launched our first Call To Action–supporting a show through a podcaster’s chosen payment option–with initial partnerships with podcast hosting platforms Pinecast, PRX, and Anchor.
With RadioPublic’s Calls To Action, we provide several ways by which a show can gain support from listeners, with the flexibility to expand to more forms of engaged audience activity in the future (coming soon: join an email list, fill out a survey, buy merch, and more).
